This morning we woke to glorious conditions in Paris and a great opportunity to take in all the sights. Final update from our last match tomorrow.
Bonjour !l. We played our last game in England yesterday in cool but improving weather. Over 30 overs a side we chased down 121 with 5 wickets down and a great 50 by Tim. Great hosts once again. We are now in France and looking forward to our final stage of the tour. With the boys limited to "Croissant" as their only French language, it should be interesting !
We have had a long and tiring day in the north. The morning started with the boys visiting a unique net facility where the bowlers got to see their speed and have hawkeye show where we all bowled.
Then onto a great country pub for lunch before we played a local village team in a fantastic location. Great hospitality and sportsmanship today by both teams. Two 20/20 games with a win each. More updates tomorrow!
Hi all. We had a great first innings batting against a very social and hospitable opposition on another lovely ground . The outfield was dominated by a large oak tree in the middle of the outfield , and if you hit the tree it was an automatic four. Good solid innings from Tim Ward, Mitchell Morgan and Kale before the rain really took hold and made the pitch dangerous for the bowlers. Thanks to our hosts and we are now off to see Australia play tomorrow .
Hi all and we have just retuned from a cracking days cricket and sightseeing.
The morning started with us all heading to a little Cotswolds Pub to watch the State of Origin game and a tour of the local area....Then it was onto our hosts at SUCC who were tremendous hosts on and off the field on yet another picture perfect ground.
The Australians batted first and made 297 with great centuries to both Jacob Wilson and Mitch Davis.
In reply our hosts were just short of our total, with solid bowling performances from Kale Hare, Nathan Wilson (3 wickets), and some guy trying to bowl like Craig McDermott (3 for 8 of three overs).
The day finished with some presentations and a fundraiser with a BBQ of beef burgers from the girls from the club's ladies team. Many thanks for our hosts for such a wonderful day's cricket on and of the field. More news from Bristol tomorrow...
Hi all .
Yesterday we we had the first victory of the tour and what a win. After collapsing and being 6 for 38, Kale Hare stepped up and played the innings of his life. Finishing 164 not out and dominating the match. Kale was supporters superbly with a rear guard action by Blake Mills making 55, and Mitch Davis with 42. our final total was 9 for 297.
All the bowlers contributed with in particular Mitch Morgan and Gerard Martindill who both took 2 for 5 and 2 for 10 respectively off their 5 overs each, as the hosts were all out for 100.
A fantastic day all round with great hosts, finally some sun and special innings from Kale. well done !
Here are some photos from our 18+ Cricket day 1...
Hi all. A great and fantastic days cricket. We got to 9 for 200 all out in the 40th and final over with great knocks from Jacob, John S and Mitchell D. A great knock also by Darryl coming in at no 11, and dominating for 1 not out .
In reply our hosts got off to a flying start before the Aussies hit back with great spells by Ross "d k Lillee" Morgan and Nathan Wilson , but the hosts held in to win by one wicket in the final over. Our hosts were simply fantastic and we finished off with the 3rd innings in the bar, which we just won to even up the day. More updates from game two tomorrow.
Hi all and we have had a great morning . It's not every day you get to have a net session at lords. Our guys also got to see the Australian team train. A great tour also with our fantastic guide. Besides a knee injury to the tour manager , all are having a great time and pumped for game 1 tomorrow !
