The girls have spent today paying their respects at the war graves and memorials of the Somme . Now on our way to Paris for the last leg of the tour...
Hi all and greetings from our last day in England . We have our last game today before heading to France . A few bumps and injuries as we grind through the games but everyone is in good spirits. The Girls effort on the court has been great. Last night against our hosts the young third team had a resounding victory. Our seconds switched off in the 2nd quarter but came roaring back to just get beaten whilst the firsts had a close and hard fought 24-22 victory.
Good morning to those back in Australia. We have just arrived at our hotel after nightmare traffic in London which saw us move 5 miles in 2 and 1/2 hours ! A long but good day. We headed back into London and straight to the Borough Market for another cracking lunch before taking in the huge soccer game between west ham and stoke city with 42,000 fans.
More netball And more of London tomorrow.....
Hi all and quick update . Girls spent the middle of the day in birmingham at the bullring for a bit of retail therapy. This afternoon we recorded 2 wins and a draw. It was great to see the seconds and young thirds come back from being behind to win and grab a draw respectively
Off to the soccer tomorrow...
Hello from an unseasonably warm England .
Yesterday we played our second lot of matches against the county teams of staffordshire. The girls were well looked after with a local sponsor paying for court hire and for the food on offer. Thank you very much ! The girls were also given a very surprising gift of a very prestigious wedgewood mug which are made in the local area. A very special thanks to Julie , Ursula, and all the team at staffordshire netball who have spoilt us and have been amazing hosts. Now to the netball.... The young third team played well but were just pipped by the locals who played very well to win. Our firsts and seconds are really starting to gell well in their teams, with some great attacking combinations and impressive intercepts in defence, leading to two victories ! The local paper was also in to take some press photos and will be online at the staffordshire sentinel . We are off to Birmingham today for some much needed retail therapy before this afternoons games against our next hosts.
Hi all and greetings from staffordshire where we have been greeted by fantastic hosts. The netball was really competitive and our girls are really starting to gell as a team
We finished with three wins out of three . Great work girls and coaches !
we are pleased to say that we had our first win with the firsts getting a victory and the seconds and thirds narrowly going down.
The afternoon was spent in the park with their hosts enjoying some fantastic weather and the impressive Wollaton Hall, which was used in the last batman movie. More updates tomorrow !
Good morning from Nottingham. Last night we attended the superleague netball game between loughborogh lighting and team bath . Before this game we were invited to play against the under 19 development team from the lightning which comprised the best county players from 4 surrounding counties. Out team did tremendously well and really took it to the locals . Even though we went down 56-27, it was a fantastic effort and all the girls involved should be very proud of their efforts. Those who were not involved got some important training under their belt with our own super coaches Sue and Alix .
we play our next games later this morning in Nottingham and hope to rack up our first wins if the tour. All are well and having a great time after staying at a stately manor last night and visiting Warwick castle.
Hello everyone and happy Easter . Our girls had a great day sightseeing around the various regions of the Cotswolds ... Our next game is tomorrow night , more updates then .
Today we player our first matches of the tour against fantastic host. Our opponents were very very strong containing 3-4 England junior national players in each team . Although we can second today it was a great effort and learning experience. Tomorrow more sightseeing before our next big match on Monday ...
