The last day of the tour was full of many emotions. The boys were so excited to play their final game against the Fiji team, and were hopeful to be able to level the series to finish 2-2.
Wanderers were dominant from the start in the first quarter scoring the first points. The Fijians came back strong and gave us a really good challenge through the second and third quarters. The final quarter was really exciting, the Wanderers were able to step their game up and finish strong. It was fantastic to see the boys finish on such a high, not only being able to draw the series, but also to see the improvement in all of the boys individually and as a group.
After the game the boys made some presentations to the Fiji team which included some AFL gear the boys had bought from home. We were also able to donate to AFL Fiji some boots and some footys.
After saying farewell to our incredible hosts the boys had a quick lunch before making our way to an AFL seconds shop. There were lots of shopping bags and smiling faces as the boys got back on the bus and head towards our hotel for the night.
As tonight was the final night of the tour the staff made some presentations to some of the Wanderers players to congratulate them on their amazing 10 days and show our appreciation for being such a fantastic group to work with. Congratulations to all of the award winners.
Tomorrow morning is an early start before we all make our way home. All of the boys should be really proud of themselves, and agree Fiji was an amazing experience.
