Belgium

Greetings from Antwerp. We have literally seen 4 seasons in a day with mild temperatures and sunny skies to snow, freezing temps, and thunderstorms in the space of 2 hours. Unfortunately we were forced indoors today but it turned out great with a brand new indoor facility with turf being available to play.

All three games were played in great spirit and we encountered a couple of under 16 and 18 players with our boys going down 5-3, and our second grade girls going down 1-4.

The highlight of the afternoon was a pulsating match against our Belgian hosts and our first grade girls , who went down 3-4 in the last second of the game....

Both our female keepers had outstanding performances and played very well.

We are off to France this morning and looking forward to the final stages of our amazing journey !

Cheese and clogs

Hi everyone and apologies for the delay in our next blog. We are all having an awesome time . The weather in Holland is holding out and on Tuesday night our teams had some draws and wins in the north of Holland.

Some sightseeing highlights have included clogs, cheese, Amsterdam and the Anne Frank House and shopping at the worlds biggest hockey shop

One of the 5 fields at one club !

One of the 5 fields at one club !

Last night we played one of the most prestigious clubs in the world...MHC Laren. Our girls team both came second but learnt a lot from the experience playing some top class opposition. Our boys also went down in a terrific match 2-4 with some really good team play against high level opposition.

A great dinner was had by all. Today is a rest day with some sightseeing and shopping before our next Dutch opponents on Friday

Final day in London

image.jpg

Good morning everyone in Australia and welcome to our next update of the tour. After farewelling our hosts this morning we went to spend our final day in London before departing for Holland. Unfortunately there was a major accident on the road which blocked us on the motorway for 2 hours which shortened our final day in London. We were able to take in the very interesting Museum of London to learn about how London has evolved from 3000 BC to today. A highlight was an interactive display featuring the cauldron from the 2012 Olympics. So it's farewell to England and everyone is looking forward to our next stop...The Netherlands

Our second grade girls had a narrow 1-2 loss and our first grade girls got back to 1-1 against a very fast and skillful team and ran out of gas going down fighting in a quality game 1-3

Manchester City

Hi all in Australia. More freezing whether (which is supposed to improve tomorrow) meant more frozen pitches so as an alternative we headed to Manchester to one of the richest sporting clubs in the world......Manchester City Football Club.

Our players were lucky enough to to go behind the scenes at the stadium and learn about the history and workings of this sporting giant.

more sightseeing in the next few days before our big day of hockey on Sunday.

Midlands match 2

Greetings from a freezing midlands in England. The squad had a great visit to Warwick castle before taking on our next great hosts at Sutton Coldfield... The conditions with again a pitch deteriorating as the temperature plummeted has seen us squeeze 3 games in. Our second girls team came up against a strong younger team going down 0-2. Our first grade girls team maintained their unbeaten run with a 0-0 draw. The highlight was our boys making their debut for the tour and on a continuing icy pitch had a fantastic 2-0 win. The weather is forecast to improve for tomorrow and we are looking forward to our next hosts.

Greetings from a much colder London today. This morning we had a great thorough training session at the venue for last years Champions Trophy and which will also host the 2018 women's World Cup . A great thrill for the players !

Our itinerary was slightly disrupted today with closures of some sites due to a public holiday here , so there was some retail therapy at London Designer a Outlets.

We are gearing up for our first matches of the tour tomorrow . Everyone is in good spirits and making new friends and are well. More updates after our first match.
