Today was a well deserved relaxed morning with a pool recovery session.
We then jumped on the bus and travelled to York for lunch and a look around the village. The town was very impressive including the cathedral, historic buildings and the wall surrounding the town as it would have thousands of years ago.
We were then off to Middlesborough for our matches against Grangetown Netball Club.
What a tough couple of matches these girls have played the last few of days! Last night they produced some outstanding passages of play, but struggled with some of the familiarity in connections down the court, which the opposition capitalised on. They fought hard right until the end, but fell short by a few goals.
The girls game up against a well drilled strong team. Grangetown burst out the blocks early and built up a lead at half time we managed to match them in the second half, however the opposition proved too good on the night recording an 11 goal win. Credit to all the girls for playing to plan and never dropping their heads playing for every ball to the very end.
Took on the Grangetown's Senior Squad which boost some very strong and experience players. This was by far our biggest challenge of the tour so far and the girls were up for the challenge. The key messages were, work together and for each other, play your role and SMILE (enjoy the challenge).
The girls executed these messages amazingly well and came away with a 1 goal win in the final moments of the match.
This morning we met up with the girls after staying with their host families, we drove to Durham for an afternoon of shopping, sight seeing and lunch.
We caught up with the girls host families from Grangetown Netball Club again for dinner and a strength and conditioning session hosted by Grangetown S & C Coach. Back to their host families for night 2 before we head off to Nottingham in the morning for a very well deserved quiet day! Until next time.
