The lads arrived at Foundation School full of confidence after an improved showing last time out and a rest day spent sightseeing and swimming in the Caribbean.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, we made a great start, bowling tight lines and keeping Foundation to 1 for 48 at drinks (17 overs). Ben Cole and Ryan Irwin opening in the style we required. Unfortunately, wickets in hand were critical and despite an excellent effort with the ball and in the field the locals finished with 166 off 35 overs. Ryan Irwin, Jonty Webb and Jugo Ileda all finishing with a wicket.
The chase started well with Wanderers moving to 1 for 85, Dekan Furnace making 46 and Utah Furnace making 23. A steady stream of wickets slowed our progress somewhat but Jonty Webb amd Max Sinclair came together late to get us within reach of the total. Needing 5 off the final over for victory, a little composure was required but 3 wickets on the over left Wanderers one run short of the total. An entertaining match that didn’t go our way but we have a chance to get our first win today.
